Tenth Avenue North - Cathedral - A CD Review

I'm pleased to be partnering with Family Christian Stores again for this CD review post. While the post is sponsored, the opinions expressed here are my own.

The song started out slowly. I recognized right away it was a new one for our church. We started singing the lyrics

I’m Tired I’m worn

My heart is heavy;

From the work it takes

To keep on breathing

I looked around the sanctuary.

At the widow who suddenly lost her husband.

At the mom who raises her little baby all on her own.

At the spouse now single because the other half just left.

At the elderly couple who has lived so many years for Jesus and are now facing more health problems as age catches up with them.

I love these people. My people.

God gently tapped on my spirit’s shoulder. And internally, I heard Him whisper,

“It’s OK for you to admit you’re worn too. You who loses your patience at your very busy daughter. You who lives so far away from your family and that can feel so foreign. You who tries every day to make your house a home so that when your husband comes home from a long day at the office, he can relax.”

I’ve made mistakes

I’ve let my hope fail

My soul feels crushed

By the weight of this world

There wasn’t a person in the room that Sunday who couldn’t sing these words. Actually, there isn’t a person I know who can’t feel the impact of these lyrics.

And I know that you can give me rest

So I cry out with all that I have left....

That’s the effect the artists of Tenth Avenue North have on their listeners. Whether we sing their lyrics at church or they come on the radio in the middle of a busy, crazy day. They make us stop and see that God has a greater purpose for us. Beyond all the pain, the effort, this life throws our way.

Just in time for the holidays, this band has released their latest CD, Cathedrals. And they’ve done it again. Ministered to the rawness of our emotions. That place where we need to know we’re not alone.

God is for us. His people are for us.

Family Christian Stores has Tenth Avenue North’s latest CD for $9.99 this month. With one of their coupons, you can get it for as low as $6.99. Just in time for the holidays. Who do you know that needs this kind of encouragement?

PS It’s OK if the answer is YOU.
